Physical Health, Emotional Well-being, Your Body as a Vessel For Greatness – L31 – Video Transcript

Hi, this is Seth David Chernoff, award-winning author of the Manual for Living.

Today, I’d like to talk to you about the physical body – and how it either helps us or gets in a way of accessing happiness and fulfillment. You see the physical body is only a representation of who we’rebeing in this life…it’s a vessel or a vehicle if you will, to get from where we are to where want to be. So if you have dreams, desires, things that you want to achieve in this life, you naturally need your body to help you get there.

So, why do we disregard our physical body? So many people smoke, they’re overweight, they don’t exercise, they don’t take care of themselves. And it’s not that we don’t know – we know how to take care of ourselves. We know we should eat right – maybe organic natural foods, We know we should exercise – maybe take a walk, swim, take a bike ride. We know we should get a good night sleep, not smoke, don’t drink too much soda, drink lots of water. We know the things that we should do but that doesn’t mean that we do it.

But you see, I would be remiss if I didn’t talk about the physical body with respect to finding happiness in life. You can’t really find happiness if you’re not taking care of your body. If you’re unhealthy, if you’re unwell – you’ll never really going to be happy. You can invest in all your relationships, you can invest in your business, you can make money, it doesn’t matter what it is…but if you’re sick, if you’re in physical pain, you’ll never be fully happy in life.

There are so many choices now that didn’t exist before. I remember when I was growing up my parents were all into organic natural foods. And that was before they put flavor in it, it tasted so bad. Now there are so many things to choose from, it’s so easy to eat organic foods, gluten-free diets, it doesn’t matter what it is…there are so many things to choose from that didn’t exist 20, 30, 40 years ago. So, I invite you to make different choices in your life. If you really have dreams and desires, if you want to be there for your kids, grand-kids – you have to take care of your physical body.

If you have things that you want to do and we all have things that we want to do. You see, we’re all here for a very unique purpose…we’re all here for a reason, it’s not just a fluke, it’s not happenstance. You have a very unique path in this life. And so if you want to really achieve that, if you want to fulfill your dreams, desires, find happiness and fulfillment…you have to take care of your physical body. You can’t destruct yourself by self medicating all the time. You’re going to experience physical pain, but you just have to make sure you are doing everything you possibly can to take care of this physical body so that it can take care of you.

It’s really not that hard, it’s not that hard to make different choices. But it means you have to let go of the patterns you’ve created, of the choices that you’ve made. You see if you’re not happy in your physical body, it’s a direct reflection of the choices you’ve made throughout yourlife. That’s all. It just needs a different choice for the future…if you want something different in this part of your life, it means choosing something different. That’s all. We can all find happiness and fulfillment but we have to take care of our vessel, this vehicle to get from where we are to where we want to be.

There are so many parts of your life that you take care of. Your automobile – well it needs an oil change, tires rotated, maybe some maintenance. Your home – naturally needs maintenance on the HVAC system, maybe a paint job. But in the physical body, maybe we get a dental checkup once or twice a year, we have our teeth cleaned, maybe we have our eyes checked, but we don’t often take care of our physical body and I implore you to do so. If you really want happiness and fulfillment, you’ll get so much more out of exercise than just happiness – being able to think more clearly, moving energy to your body, releasing the toxins from your body, there’re so many benefits to taking care of yourself, I can’t even list them all here. And there are so many experts far greater than I that can help you get to that place but I just implore you to do so, because if you really want to be happy in life you have to take care of your physical body.

I hope you found this video helpful in your journey towards happiness and fulfillment, and until next time…many blessings!
